The lateral two step is a simple drill you can do with mini hurdles. This drill is a great way to improve lateral quickness and lower body agility. It is advised to practice all drills at half speed at first. Once you are comfortable with the drill, you can increase your foot speed. Ultimately, your aim should be to do the drill as quickly as possible. The following are instructions for performing the lateral two step with mini hurdles:
First, separate each hurdle about 20 inches apart. Once you have the hurdles in place, stand sideways in front of the first hurdle. Ensure your hips are square. Push off with your left leg and step sideways over each hurdle (one leg at a time). The trailing leg should land next to the lead leg. As you move through the hurdles, try to keep your head straight. Your back should remain erect at all times. Stay on your toes as you work your way through the hurdles. Repeat the drill on both sides.
