The scissor hop ladder drill is a great way to enhance speed and agility. The footwork for this drill is fairly simple to perform. If you can master the steps, you can expect to improve your ability to accelerate, decelerate, and quickly change direction while maintaining balance. It is advised to practice the scissor hop slowly at first. Once you become comfortable with the footwork, try to increase the speed of the drill. Be sure to stay on your toes at all times.

Begin by standing behind the first ladder square.

Movement 1: Jump to the sides of the first ladder square.

Movement 2: Perform a scissor jump with your right foot crossing the front of your left foot. Your right foot should enter the first square.

Movement 3: Jump to the sides of the next ladder square.

Movement 4: Perform a scissor jump again, but this time your left foot should cross in front of your right foot. Your left foot should enter the next square.

As your feet land in the ladder squares, try to create a line with your feet (this is important). The foot in front should be aligned with the foot in back every time. Continue the same foot pattern down the remaining ladder squares.
